Finding Ease on Election Day: Online Mini Retreat and Ritual

Ease on Election Day

If election day typically feels stressful and anxiety producing for you, AND/OR if you would like to collectively imagine a brighter world for all of us to live in, this event is for you.

If you’re like me, sitting in front of the TV all night long on election day or obsessively refreshing the websites you are monitoring only causes anxiety - and this anxiety is 0% productive or helpful to creating the world in which you wish to live. Once you have cast your vote, your work is done until the next day when you go to live your values in the world.

In this online community circle, you can enjoy LIVE from the comfort of your home, we will:

  • Engage in practices to soothe our nervous systems because when calm, we can tap into our powers of creativity and connection to create the world in which we wish to live.

  • Connect with others and collectively dream about the world and communities in which we want to live.

  • Leave feeling empowered with some simple and personal steps we can take to work towards that world we wish to co-create.

Supplies Needed:

  • Zoom

  • Comfortable “nest” - you could be in your favorite chair or on the floor. Just be comfortable.

  • Journal or paper and a pen

  • Piece of toilet paper or a scrap of paper that you can burn

  • Candle and fire source

Community Agreements:

  • Confidentiality. What happens in our circle, stays in our circle.

  • Body kindness. Please tend to your body. Move when you need to move, drink water, and feel free to turn off the video.

  • Psyche Kindness. Please take care, and if you feel your psyche putting up a boundary, please feel free to take a break or opt out.

  • Tending to this present moment. We welcome you to be fully present, fully here with us. This may look like turning off all devices and distractions. Creating a more compassionate world starts with being present with ourselves and each other.

  • Opinions can be asked for but not freely given.

  • We agree that we do not need to be the same person or share the same views. Our circle and community can hold it all.

  • Compassionate communication.

  • We look at what is underneath. If we have an opinion on a “hot button issue,” we speak to the values that underlie that issue rather than the issue itself.
